DAY-TO-DAY FUNDRAISING EVENTS MAKE MEMORABLE SOCIAL OCCASIONS AND PULL YOUR SCHOOL COMMUNITY TOGETHER
CASE STUDY: DRAGON BOAT RACE SUCCESS
‘Ours is a small school with big plans! The PTA was given the task of raising £50,000 towards rebuilding our old prefabricated Reception/ Year 1 classroom (with the addition of toilets!). The biggest Dragon Boat Festival in Europe
is held only 20 miles away at Bewl Water, so we decided to enter. The venue, boats, safety kit – we just needed 20 willing volunteers. Lots of emailing, playground coaxing and
newsletter advertising and we had a squad. Our Headteacher was persuaded (by which I mean try stopping her!) to be our drummer. We sought sponsorship individually to
maximise our income, setting up a Virgin Money Giving page each (this made claiming Gift Aid easy). A few dads competed to raise Organising the event was simple – just

A few events later and our new Ash Class was opened in January.
