For this beauty, Peppe went all the way to the top ... the top of scenic Mount Erice, where vines mingle with ruins dating back millennia.
Of course Sicily is known for golden sunshine, but add altitude and you have a perfect recipe for mouthcoating yet fresh fl avours.
And what chef Pino is to slow food, Peppe is to winemaking. Nothing rushed, no cutting of corners, right down to some ageing in barrels ... unheard of for a wine at £7.99 unless the winemaker is on a mission!
Cantina Siciliana 2015 is dark in the glass with a bright purple rim, then oodles of blackberry, mocha and blueberry with ripe, soft spice and notes of black olive that go so well with Pino’s spring lamb.
We can’t recommend this highly enough and had to beg for the allocation – stock up while you can!
