On the move


Meint Post, Rabobank’s long-stand- ing executive, has left the bank. Post joined Rabobank in 1999 as an IT archi- tect and had a long-spanning career there, most recently holding the role of COO of Rabobank’s network of international direct banks, Rabobank IDB. He oversaw the implementation, maintenance and upgrades of Rabobank IDB’s core software, Thaler from Callataÿ & Wouters (now Sopra Banking Platform from Sopra Banking Soft- ware).


Barclays has recruited ex-Bank of Ameri- ca senior executive, Jonathan Moulds, as its new group COO. In this newly created position, Moulds will be responsible for the bank’s restructuring that includes the sepa- ration of its investment activities, as well as for the acceleration of a cost reduction pro- gramme. He will report directly to Barclays’ CEO, Antony Jenkins. The banking group has also appointed a new chairman, John McFarlane, who will start in April.


As Swift’s long-standing CIO, Mike Fish, retired at the end of January, the Socie- ty has used this opportunity to restructure its IT and operations units. The reorganisa- tion aims to ‘bring the IT development and operational activities together in two new divisions in order to maximise effective- ness and efficiency in these key disciplines’, according to a statement from Swift. As part of the programme, a new CTO


and COO have been appointed, Craig Young and Marcel Bronmans, respectively. Young joins from Verizon Communications, where he spent over 20 years, most recent- ly as SVP and CIO. As for Bronmans, he has been with Swift since the mid-1980s, and moves to his new role from the position of chief risk officer. During his lengthy career with Swift, Bronmans held a variety of roles across IT and operations, and was also head of HR.


Standard Chartered CIO and group head of technology, Jan Verplancke, is leaving the bank after a ten-year tenure, in the midst of the bank’s major shake-up and cost-cutting programme, hoped to save $400 million in 2015. Also leaving is the group’s chief risk officer of eight years, Richard Goulding.

jobs from its retail operations, with anoth- er 2000 lay-offs on the cards. Up to 100 branches are to be closed in the bank’s attempt to push its customers towards dig- ital services, thus saving up to $200 million. Also closing down is the group’s divi-


sion for institutional cash equities, equity research and equity capital markets. This is expected to save around $100 million in 2016 and will cost 200 jobs.


Akash Anand, head of global business at India-based Miles Software, has left the asset management software firm after four years. Prior to joining Miles, Anand was with Tata Asset Management, where he held a number of senior executive roles in the course of a five-year tenure. His earli- er employers include HSBC and Sun Life Financial.


London Metal Exchange (LME) has a new CTO, John Lee. Lee comes with over two decades of experience in the trading tech- nology space. Most recently, he was at ICE/ NYSE Euronext, where he worked on the integration of NYSE Euronext’s Liffe oper- ation with ICE Clear Europe, among other responsibilities. Lee was at NYSE Euron- ext/Liffe for 20 years and held a variety of senior roles ranging from global IT project management to the delivery of clearing and derivatives trading software.


Calypso Technology, a treasury and capital markets software specialist, has appoint- ed Pascal Xatart as president. He moves from Giift.com, one of the world’s biggest networks of loyalty and card programmes, where he was CEO and co-founder (the company was set up in 2012). Prior to that, Xatart was CEO of Sophis (now part of Misys) for five years, and before that he was with Linedata. Another new appointment at Calypso


is Venkatesh Ramasamy, SVP for business services and utilities. He also joins the ven- dor’s operating committee. In this newly created role, Ramasamy will oversee the development and execution of a strategy for offering customers managed servic- es. He joins from RBS, where he was glob- al head of prime services, responsible for

establishing a cross-asset service for hedge funds and leveraged players. Prior to his tenure at RBS, he was with Dresdner Klein- wort (now defunct).


Daragh O’Byrne is the new VP for market- ing at India-based lending software spe- cialist, Nucleus Software. O’Byrne moves from BPC Banking Technologies, a Rus- sia-based vendor focused on payments solutions, where he was chief marketing officer for three years. Prior to that he was with Misys, also working on various mar- keting initiatives, and before that he was responsible for product marketing at Misys’ predecessor, Kindle Banking Systems.


Struggling banking and insurance soft- ware vendor, 3i Infotech, has appointed R V Ramanan as president and COO. He moves from fellow Indian IT company, Hexaware Technologies, where he held a similar role. Ramanan has over 25 years of experience in the IT industry, having worked for enti- ties such as TCS and Citibank. Commenting on the appointment, 3i Infotech’s global CEO and MD, Madhivanan Balakrishnan, said that the company is looking forward to working with Ramanan in its ‘quest to put 3i Infotech back on the path of growth’.


Marion King has left Mastercard, where she was president of UK and Ireland opera- tions for three years, and moved to RBS. In her new role at the bank, King will be chief administrative officer, payments. Prior to her joining Mastercard, King spent nearly a decade at Vocalink (at the time she left, she was the company’s CEO). Her experience also includes a lengthy tenure at Reuters, where she held a variety of executive roles in the UK and Asia.


Martin Taylor has been named group CIO of Microfocus International, a UK-based software development and consultan- cy firm that specialises in legacy software upgrades. Taylor has a wealth of experi- ence in the fintech space, having worked on change projects at Barclaycard and Lloyds. He was also strategy adviser to CEO of TCS Financial Solutions for a brief while, and had a five-year spell at LCH.Clearnet as group CIO.
