Course: For amateurs, the course to test their skills is Carnoustie, one of the best and most notorious courses on the Open Championship circuit. Dubbed ‘Car-nasty’ by Americans due to its famous diffi culty, especially under adverse weather conditions, Carnoustie’s layout is a truly heroic test of temperament and ability. AUSTRALIA Country: The so-called 'lucky country' certainly favours visiting golfers eager to pit their wits against some of the fi nest courses south of the equator. Melbourne and Sydney, two of the world's greatest cities, off er access to several high-quality layouts. There are other fantastic tests up and down the country’s eastern seaboard, and also in Western Australia and across the Bass Strait in Tasmania. Course: Although remote, the course at Cape Wickham on King Island near Tasmania is worth making the eff ort for. Laid out over stunning links land, the track, while very new, has already established itself as one of the best in Australia.
