OOKING for unique experiences in Vancouver? Well look no further! Check out these suggestions for special experiences that can only be experienced in Vancouver.

Vancouver’s Rain

Pitter-patter, pitter-patter, pitter-patter. Listen closely to the soft sounds of fresh rain hitting the lush and leafy greenery as you splash along one of Vancouver’s many tree lined trails. Take a deep breath and let the aromas of cedar, fir, oak, and maple trees pair perfectly with the scent of green grass draped along ancient forest floors. Standing over the mist, Vancouver proudly resides in a perfect coastal rainforest which gives the city its temperate climate and vibrant green hues all year round.

On a drizzly day, the city’s top attractions including Capilano Suspension Bridge and Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden, will evoke a sense of peace and tranquility as you explore them with ease. The Treetops Adventure course at Capilano Suspension Bridge provides you with a unique “squirrel’s eye view” of the West Coast rainforest should your desire to tread amongst the trees push you to pursue new heights. Strung between 250-year old Douglas fir trees, the series of suspension bridges and viewing platforms circle these ancient trees without the use of bolts or nails to promote their continued growth.

Vancouver’s Seawall

One of Vancouver’s top attractions is nothing more than a paved pathway that stretches some 28 km (17.5 miles) around the city’s waterfront. But what a path it is! Known simply as “the seawall,” you’ll find that following this route, whether on foot or bicycle, is one of the best ways to discover Vancouver. In fact, spending a day exploring Vancouver’s seawall ranks as one of the very best ways to spend a day while you’re in the city.

Vancouver By Water

Many visitors associate the mountains with Vancouver. Look at any postcard and you’ll see the peaks of the North Shore mountains looming large over the city skyline. And heading up to Grouse, Cypress or Mount Seymour will yield magnificent views at any time of year. But what really defines Vancouver is its location right on the waters of the Pacific Ocean. It’s a way of getting around the city, a source of adventure and exercise, a portal to nature, and of course, a great backdrop for your vacation memories!

Taking in the sights around Vancouver by water is as easy as taking a boat trip. Aquabus offers 25-minute mini cruises of False Creek, but for something longer, join Harbour Cruises for an hour-long sightseeing tour of the city’s harbour, or combine a cruise up the spectacular Indian Arm fjord with lunch. For a more action-packed option, get your heart racing with a Sea Vancouver 90-minute tour blasting around the harbour aboard a Zodiac! Or hit the water for some wildlife watching: head up Howe Sound on a Sewell’s Marina Sea Safari, or out to sea with one of Vancouver’s whale watching companies.

Surf Up A Mountain

There are those people who find taking the Skyride gondola to Grouse Mountain’s peak a thrill-seeking experience. Given that it climbs 1,610 m (5,282 ft) up the mountain, the 360 degree view of Burrard Inlet, temperate rainforest and the city skyline from the

Centre on the north-east side of the downtown peninsula, and heads north to Stanley Park and around to English Bay, then south and east up False Creek to Science World before heading west past the Olympic Village, Granville Island, Kitsilano Beach and as far as the beaches of Spanish Banks. In a city known for mountains, the seawall is mostly flat, making it an easy ride or walk for those of all abilities and ages.

windows that surround the cabin is both awe- inspiring, and for some, enough to get their heart racing.

But if all of that sounds a bit dull to you, you’re probably the sort of person who is going to love Grouse’s new Skyride Surf Adventure. Only available during summer months, instead of joining other passengers inside the gondola, you’ll take the ride up the mountain on the roof!

The new experience has guests standing on an open-air, rooftop structure along with a guide, who then provides commentary for the ride, pointing out the city’s landmarks as you surf up the mountain, with the wind in your hair and alpine air filling your lungs!

Urban Wilderness

Close your eyes and breathe deeply. As the earthy, cedar-scented air fills your lungs, you’re calmed by the natural white-noise of an old-growth temperate

rainforest: wind moving through leaves, branches creaking, evergreen needles crunching underfoot. Stanley Park is located on the northern half of the city’s downtown peninsula – around 1,000 acres of hiking trails, beaches, old-growth forest, gardens, attractions and activities.

Lost Lagoon is home to a wide variety of water birds – stop in at the Stanley Park Nature House to learn more about the park’s wildlife. Or stroll along the seawall to the Vancouver Aquarium, lauded for its marine stewardship program. The Stanley Park section of the seawall stretches 9 km (5.5 miles) around the perimeter of the park, and walking this will take you past attractions such as the popular totem poles at Brockton Point, public artworks, the Second Beach Pool, and plenty of photo- worthy vistas.
