Novelists Joanne Harris and Celia Rees are joining of the Society of Authors management committee, the governing body which oversees the SoA’s strategic direction. Author and journalist Carol Lee is also joining the committee, while Charles Palliser, who has been a committee member since 2013, has been re-elected for a second three-year term.
Agent Lucy Luck joined Conville & Walsh on 1st November. She was previously senior literary agent at Aitken Alexander Associates.
Carlton Publishing Group has hired Japhet Asher as digital director to oversee the company’s augmented reality and digital product development. Asher, who was already working with the group on a consultancy basis, has now joined full time.
Laurence King Publishing has appointed illustrated book editor Chelsea Edwards and visual arts specialist Philip Contos as senior editors.

Laurence King Publishing, recognized as one of the world’s leading publishers of books on the creative arts, is looking for an experi- enced editor to work on our expanding list of art, design, fashion, student books, children’s books, and gifts.
In this position you would be responsible for taking projects from manuscript to final proofs, including preparation of sales material. The job involves working closely with authors and co-publishers, and running a team of freelance designers, illustrators, copy-editors and picture researchers. Ensuring that the books are produced to a high standard, to budget and on schedule is vital.
The successful candidate will have at least five years of related experience on highly illustrated books. Experience of co-editions would be an advantage. You will need excellent organisational skills, a good eye for detail and the ability to co-ordinate multiple projects on tight schedules. Experience of Apple Mac, including InDesign is essential.
