COVER STORY
High performance: new examination light
Quality lighting is essential for the hospital environment and Steris offers a wide variety of high quality lighting solutions; delivering pure white light, enhancement of deep saturated reds and colours, and optimum illumination to provide the best possible patient outcomes. Well-known for its operating theatre solutions – which are designed to provide natural colour rendition, excellent shadow control and deep-cavity illumination – Steris offers high performance lighting to all medical departments. The latest in its portfolio of lighting solutions includes a powerful, next-generation LED examination light. HexaLux covers a diverse range of applications – including examination rooms in the emergency department; plaster rooms and consultation rooms; intensive care and reanimation units, as well as maternity wards, induction and recovery rooms.
One light, several configurations
Delivering up to 65,000 lux of pure, white LED light, the Hexalux light’s design includes five light intensity levels and is available in three configurations, to adapt to all types of application: l The ceiling-mounted can be adapted to various ceiling heights. It covers a large radial area, thus offering great freedom of movement and allowing it to be moved close to the area to be examined.
l The wall-mounted offers great span to provide close-up lighting and can be folded back when not in use, thus freeing up space.
l The mobile versions enable ambulatory use, suitable for various applications. The mobile version with built-in battery offers great autonomy. A wide range of
accessories is available, offering even more practical solutions for your clinical environment.
First grade LEDs and superior optical qualities
The light is designed from high quality materials, ensuring constant performance, whatever the application – whether illuminating small wounds, sutures, clinical examination or diagnostics. It features a cast aluminium head yoke and is robust, light, with excellent heat dissipation. The HexaLux generates homogeneous white light (4,400 K), offering excellent colour restitution (Ra = 95), in particular for skin (R13 = 97) and red hues (R9 = 97). Diagnostics will benefit from its reliability as the light has a service life of more than 50,000 hours and is designed to withstand tough, intensive daily use. As well as standing up to the demands of being constantly handled, folded away and moved, it is also intuitive to use, with ‘one-click control’. The ability to operate the light, with one-handed adjustment and positioning, enables the user to focus on the patient. All HexaLux features are directly available from the central handle, to simplify its use: l Turn lighting on or off. l Adjust light intensity. l Adjust light spot size.
The handle can also be removed and sterilised when moving room to room, to ensure effective infection prevention and decontamination. As an added convenient feature, the mobile unit offers various accessories, including a shelf, basket and retractable power cord – thereby providing flexibility and organisation of supplies when moving room to room. The mobile stand version is also very compact, while being easy to move via its five-
directional casters – all equipped with brakes. The HexaLux complements the
company’s full range of examination lights, which includes: the Harmony LED385 examination lighting system. This delivers bright white, cool LED lighting in an ultra- slim design for a variety of exam and minor procedure needs. Also in the range is the Harmony LA 300 examination lighting system, designed specifically for procedures in an ICU or emergency department, offering high-intensity, colour-corrected lighting. Completing the range is the AMSCO Examiner 10 examination lighting system, which eliminates drift, which can interrupt procedures, while reducing glare and providing a cool beam of light. Practical and efficient, the latest HexaLux lighting system will quickly make itself indispensible. To discover more, visit:
