Cloud-based integrated image sharing solution
GE Healthcare and Trice Imaging, a cloud- based medical imaging solutions provider, have announced a commercial partnership to provide a new way for clinicians to connect with their colleagues and patients. This solution – called Tricefy – adds cloud-based image sharing, diagnostic collaboration, remote reviewing, archiving and Electronic Health Record (EHR) integration to GE Healthcare’s Ultrasound Women’s Health product portfolio. The system enables collaboration among physicians through one-click ultrasound sharing and secure archiving. Tricefy seamlessly integrates with GE Healthcare’s Women’s Health ultrasound offerings – including the Voluson E series product line and ViewPoint 6 reporting software
– and will ultimately align with GE Health Cloud. Tricefy is claimed to improve the clinical and patient experience in several ways: l Clinicians can now access images and reports from anywhere, and remotely collaborate with other physicians via cost-efficient, secured storage.
l Hospitals can see economic benefits as well, given that Tricefy integrates into existing PACS Systems, saving on implementation costs. In addition, the solution eliminates the need for DVDs or thumb drives.

Increasing diagnostic accuracy and patient comfort

New training video to improve safety of swab management
CENTRAL MEDICAL SUPPLIES (CMS), a specialist supplier of medical equipment, has launched a new training video for its Swabsafe swab management system, which is now available. Swabsafe is designed to eliminate the risk posed to operating theatre staff by the unnecessary handling of contaminated swabs and assist in accurate swab counting, to protect the patient. The new training video stresses the importance of effective swab management, outlines best practice and highlights the benefits of Swabsafe as a modern alternative to the swab rack. The Swabsafe system complies with Health and Safety requirements and meets with the Association for Perioperative Practice (AfPP) guidelines. The system is safe and hygienic, easy to use and environmentally friendly, as it is made from recyclable materials. Bacteria, necrotic tissue and fibrin hinder wound healing. The patented HydroClean plus uses its rising-absorption combination to create a moist wound bed, which promotes autolytic debridement. The combination reduces harmful Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) that trigger inflammation – one of the key causes of delayed healing in chronic wounds – by up to 87%. The product continues to rinse the area with Ringer’s solution, which is contained within the Hydro-Responsive Dressing core and keeps the area moist for up to three days. The patented dressing facilitates autolytic debridement without harsh mechanical methods. HydroClean plus also contains the antiseptic Polyhexanide (polyhexamethylene biguanide, PHMB), which has an antimicrobial effect within the wound pad.
