Compact generator At the same time, the company has developed the 994CG, a compact in-mould labelling (IML) generator. The miniature generator has four 20kV outlets, making it the most powerful of its kind on the market, says Meech. “The global IML market looks set to thrive over the
coming years, with a reduction in labelling costs being a major contributor to this projected growth,” said Rogers. “The IML procedure eliminates the need for separate post-decoration, which leads to a reduction in additional labour and raw material costs.” As customer feedback indicates that 24V DC power
is becoming the preferred supply voltage for ancillary equipment on machinery, Meech has developed an IML generator that reduces power consumption and has a small footprint – with dimensions of only 150 x 38 x 40mm, allowing easy installation. The 994CG will prove ideal for OEMs and end-users
whose working environments include robot arms, and that have traditionally worked with large remote generators with mains voltage supply. The system removes the need to have high voltage
cables next to signal wires and low voltage cables. Fitting a 994CG at the end of a robot arm removes all the issues experienced when using remote static generation, says Meech. “With robot installations, space is limited and weight
needs to be minimal to allow the machine to move at optimum speeds,” said Rogers. “The 994CG’s size and light weight, as well as its sturdy mounting points and high resistance to vibration, ensure that the robot arm’s dexterity is not affected.”
