zx Buckner opens new Peru Family Hope Center

PAMPLONA, Peru – Buckner International has opened the Villa Hermosa Buckner Family Hope Center here, the ministry’s second Hope Center in Peru.

Located in a suburb of Lima, the Hope Center will transform lives through in-depth case management and a variety of services

This is the second Hope Center in Pam- plona, a poverty-stricken area outside the capital city. Most people live in homes of tin without access to running water. Some do not have access to electricity in their homes. “The Family Hope Center is shining hope to one of the poorest and most vulnerable populations in this squatter community by empowering families to be- come all God intended for them to be by

improving their living conditions and their quality of life with sustainable programs that move them toward self-suffi ciency,” said Dexton Shores, Buckner regional director of Latin America.

Hope Centers are one of four focus min- istries for Buckner. Twenty-six Hope Cen- ters are now changing lives around the world in countries such as the Dominican Republic, Honduras, Kenya, Mexico and the United States. For more information on their work, visit buckner.org. –John Hall

or vocational training and become self-suffi cient. Locally, they were known by Family Pathways, Family Place or My Father’s House Lubbock.

The name change will make it easier for communities to recog- nize Buckner ministries and understand what they do. “Family Pathways clearly communicates what these ministries are about,” said Scott Collins, Buckner vice president of com- munications. “Through in-depth work, we are providing families pathways to strength, health and self-sustainability. So while the names are changing for the sake of consistency, the ministry of Family Pathways remains the same.”
