TAHITI Welcome aboard. You are on the cusp of an extraordinary journey that will take you places you may have never dreamed you would reach. It begins in Tahiti.
Your first task is to suspend disbelief. You’re here. What you’re seeing is real. In the next eight days you’ll be repeatedly dazzled by what you experience.
HUAHINE Daybreak brings you the "Garden Island" for a morning of exploration. Once the playground for Tahitian royalty, Huahine is the very cradle of Polynesian culture—and you'll find yourself in the heart of it. Temples, monuments, and archaeological relics dating as far back as 700 B.C. have waited thousands of years for your arrival.
Everywhere your eye lands is lovely and very green. Life is quiet here; the jungle greets you with sights, sounds, and scents you will only experience in the South Pacific. Snorkel, SCUBA or jet ski in what is regarded as the finest surf in French Polynesia.
Fakarava Welcome to the Tuamotu Archipelago. Spanning more than 300 square miles and numbering more than 80 islands and atolls, the Tuamotus embody serenity—and a true sense of escape.
The secluded enclave of Fakarava is home to flora and fauna unseen anywhere else on the globe. Designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, Fakarava reveals Mother Nature's handiwork firsthand on land and beneath the water. Tuamotu’s second-largest lagoon is one of the world’s most prized (yet still relatively undiscovered) diving and snorkeling locations.
Spend your day wandering through Fakarava’s main village of Rotoava. Explore ancient temples. Feel the warm sand between your toes on extraordinarily beautiful beaches. Or go beneath the glass- like surface of the lagoon on the Fakarava Pinnacle Snorkel excursion and enter into another world.
Rangiroa If you were a mermaid, you’d probably choose Rangiroa. A bucket- list destination for divers and snorkelers everywhere, the “Island of the Immense Sky” offers an under-the-sea experience with some of the most colorful and abundant marine life you’ll experience anywhere. The underwater landscape borders on the hedonistic with fish of every shape and color cavorting against a filigreed coral backdrop. You may even spy wild dolphins, enjoying life as only dolphins can.
Whether you spend your day exploring below the surface of the water or above, you’ve found paradise.
TAHA’A [Motu Mahana] Like a flower-shaped emerald in a glittering silver setting, the "Vanilla Island" of Taha'a will greet you as you awaken on board. Once you’ve realized you’re not still in the middle of a very beautiful dream, enjoy breakfast, then disembark for a remarkable day of exploration.
Taha'a is accessible from Raiatea only by boat, and The Gauguin will bring you closer to its shores than any other ship currently sailing the South Pacific. Taha’a’s soaring hillsides and plush valleys beg to be explored. Or enjoy a delicious
barbecue, floating bar, coconut drinks, and Polynesian activities at Motu Mahana, a secluded islet just off the coast.
BORA BORA Spend the day on The Gauguin's private white-sand beach and bask under the warm sun. Like a priceless Paul Gauguin painting come to life, Bora Bora is one of the world’s top honeymoon destinations for good reason. The landscape alone will have you searching for adequate adjectives. Soaring volcanic peaks, impossibly green jungles, flowers in an explosion of vibrant colors. And then there’s the lagoon.
Moorea Everyone who has ever seen Rodgers & Hammerstein’s South Pacific will probably have the song Bali Hai in their head while on Moorea. Said to be the inspiration for that mythical peak, Moorea is one of the favorite ports of passengers of The Gauguin.
Adventure awaits on land and sea. What suits you? Quaint villages, pineapple plantations, golf, hiking trails for all levels of physical fitness and energy—and of course snorkeling, diving, sailing, and lagoon excursions abound.
Tahiti And so we return to where it began: Papeete. Although it has only been a week since you first set sail, this journey has created a lifetime’s worth of experiences and memories.
