FLOOR SAFETY SERVING UP SAFETY
Several of the world’s most well-known fast food franchises have turned to Altro to install safety flooring and wall cladding products in their kitchens. Tomorrow’s Health & Safety finds out why.
Altro safety flooring and wall cladding products have received the international seal of approval from three world-famous fast food chains. The UK-developed Altro StrongholdTM 30 safety flooring and Altro WhiterockTM hygienic wall cladding have been installed in fast food outlets in the UK, Europe and beyond.

FOR PRET A MANGER For Pret A Manger, Altro’s integrated flooring and walling system was the solution for outstanding performance and simplified cleaning.
Pret A Manger offers a combination of fresh ingredients and fast food: all the sandwiches and salads are prepared on the day in the restaurant kitchen, with fresh products delivered daily. The company chose Altro Stronghold 30 safety flooring with a coved skirting to form a continuous, impermeable, surface with Altro Whiterock hygienic wall cladding. This floor-wall solution is easy to clean, resistant to grime and tough enough to tolerate knocks from trolleys and other kitchen equipment.
Altro Stronghold 30 is a 3mm thick safety flooring designed for use in wet and greasy conditions where frequent spillage is likely, so it is ideal for commercial kitchen use. Boasting Altro’s highest rating for slip resistance, it also offers long-term durability and ease of cleaning as well as added noise reduction, comfort and strength underfoot. Altro Stronghold benefits from a 15 year warranty and offers 20 years of sustained slip resistance, keeping risk of a slip to just one in a million over this period of time.

Flooring needs to withstand demanding, wet and greasy conditions where frequent spillage is likely. Wall cladding needs to be waterproof, easy to clean and impact resistant to enable employees to maintain high standards of hygiene.
Pret A Manger, KFC and McDonald’s have found that Altro products excel when installed in these demanding environments.
Having proved its effectiveness in Pret A Manger’s British restaurants, the management of the French chain decided to specify the Altro solution in its own outlets. Pret A Manger’s operations support manager, Adrien Garcia, said: “The Altro floors and walls in the kitchen can be cleaned with jet washers, which ensures impeccable hygiene while simultaneously saving time on cleaning.
“Our other priority is safety, and the slip-resistant properties of Altro flooring respond perfectly to our demands. In addition, with a certified installer, the installation is extremely quick: the restaurant kitchen at Issy les Moulineaux, just outside Paris, was completed in one week.”
