LAKESIDE LUXURY FOR VIP VENUE

When looking for a stylish and exclusive design to create an opulent feel for music venue, Lakeside Lounge, flooring from Amtico was the first choice to complete the refurbishment.

The Midlands-based music and entertainment venue, Lakeside Lounge, has recently transformed its VIP lounge with the help of Amtico’s Signature collection of floor tiles. The area, which encompasses an exclusive bar and restaurant, is specifically designed to provide visitors with an exceptional experience.

As part of the refurbishment, Somerset-based interior designers, Atlantic Group, were tasked with creating a bespoke flooring design to match the modern and stylish surroundings. There were three defined areas that required new flooring, including the lobby, washrooms and dance floor.

The first two utilised a combination of dramatic wood and stone effect products to match the bold scheme of the lounge. Alternatively, the unique central dance floor incorporated a selection of intense stone effect tiles in bronze and earthy tones to create a shimmering geometric pattern.

INSPIRATION

Annie Hill, Interior Designer for the project, said: “Due to the modern

and contemporary style of the space, we wanted to integrate flooring that was in keeping with the exclusivity of the room. We also needed to zone the flooring, and felt the seating areas and booths suited a warm, timber effect plank, with the dance floor incorporating a special stone effect tile to create an upbeat and energetic space.”

As the venue was subjected to a relatively high footfall, it was crucial that the products specified were durable and, in particular, able to work well as a dance floor in parts of the room. However, the designs also needed to be conducive to the laying patterns and finishes required, and therefore used advice from Amtico on specifying the correct products during the design process.

“Amtico also supplied samples to use in mood boards, which were a great help when presenting our vision to the client,” Annie added.

INSTALLATION Installation of the complex laying

patterns at the Lakeside Lounge

was completed by Westmac Flooring Specialists Ltd.

Commenting on the project, Mark Western, Co-owner and Director of Westmac Flooring Specialists, said: “We’ve been fitting Amtico since 1976 and have come across many different patterns in that time. The dancefloor element of this project presented some unique challenges, with a complex constellation design acting as the centrepiece to the lounge. However, we carefully planned the scheme, and even carried out a ‘dry lay’ of the flooring before bonding it to the surface, so when we completed the final tile, it fell in perfectly.”

Christina Western, Co-owner and Director of Westmac Flooring, who also played an integral part in the project’s success, added: “As far as the durability of this project is concerned, I have no doubt that all the flooring will easily stand up to the requirements. In all the years that I have been laying Amtico, I have never had a single problem with the tiles, and I’m confident this project won’t be any different.”
