LOVE YOUR GARDEN WITH EARTHWOOD EASYCLEAN

Timbertech composite decking range, has shot to TV stardom after featuring on garden guru Alan Titchmarsh’s popular ITV show Love Your Garden.

All of Earthwood EasyClean’s star qualities shone on screen in episode three of ITV’s Love Your Garden, which aired on the 7th July. This episode, which showcased a garden makeover for the Finney family from Truro, incorporated a 25 square metre TimberTech decked outdoor lounge area, combined with an integrated decked seating area, and a bespoke coffee table. The TimberTech Silver Maple boards were also utilised to create a colourful ball pit for the children, as well as providing the foundation for the second play area which incorporated a fantastic play dome for the kids to enjoy.

CHANGES TO ENERGY EFFICIENCY LAW PROVIDE LIGHTING UPGRADE

OPPORTUNITIES Forthcoming changes to EPCs (Energy Performance Certificates) will force one in five landlords to upgrade their properties.

As most of today's commercial landlords should know, an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) is a legal document. It sets out a building's energy efficiency rating from A (very efficient) to G (inefficient). Changes involving EPCs are coming as part of new law; the Minimum Energy Efficiency Standard (MEES). Falling into place in April 2018, MEES requires rented commercial premises to have a rating of at least E.

Greensquares Managing Director Jason Cole said: “Stage celebrities often “tread the boards”- but it’s not often that the board itself is the celebrity. However, the spotlight was firmly on TimberTech’s bright new star and Earthwood EasyClean decking shone in its leading role.

“The LYG team knew TimberTech was the ideal low maintenance solution for the Finney family, as well as being quick and easy to install and therefore ideal for such a fast paced garden makeover show” said Mr. Cole.

Earthwood EasyClean’s unique, impenetrable cap makes it the ideal low maintenance solution for homeowners of all sizes as well as for landscapers, leisure businesses and garden designers seeking to maximise good looks and minimise maintenance.

Both Earthwood EasyClean, and its top of the range sister product Earthwood EasyClean Legacy, from Greensquares, the UK’s outdoor living experts, have a super-resilient wood and polymer mix, topped off by a sleek, uncompromising polymer cap, that’s easy to clean as well as easy on the eye.

Therefore, buildings with an F or G rating must upgrade to comply. Estimates suggest approximately 20% of UK business properties could be in the F and G rating brackets. That means a great many commercial landlords will need to make efficiency upgrades, to get their buildings up to scratch.

The new rules don't kick in until 1st April, 2018, but at Greenlite we urge early adoption; there is no reason to delay. MEES is an opportunity as well as a tick box exercise. For a start, energy efficient lighting increases rental values and offers more comfortable workplaces. It's a solution that pays back.

Even before MEES, upgrading lights was widely known as a quick win to improve a building's EPC rating. It can be very fast, and very simple to implement. Fitting LEDs or improved fluorescent tubes is quick, but impacts substantially

You can say goodbye to annual sanding, scrubbing, sealing, painting and staining. Earthwood EasyClean is splinter free and won’t split, warp, bend, crack or fade. It’s slip resistant. It carries the reassurance of a 25- year warranty for residential and ten years for commercial applications.

on achieving the necessary efficiency rating.

Statistics from The Carbon Trust suggest up to 40% of a building's electricity use is accounted for by lights. Therefore, upgrades here could deal with almost half the work required to meet MEES lighting law.

With MEES, the cost of improvements falls upon landlords. Fortunately, Greenlite understands the challenges of effectively financing efficiency improvements.

With this in mind, we offer the Carbon Trust and Siemens-backed finance scheme which is ideally suited to MEES requirements. It means landlords and property developers need not pay upfront. It's designed to offer flexibility, security and ensure you are saving money from the outset.
