Chinese Art + Japanese, Indian and Islamic Art 25 and 26 October, Cheltenham
Tis sale also has a number of works form private collections in the lots. A highlight of this sale is an 18th-century jade bowl from the Qing dynasty, (est £10-20,000) that is part of a group of hardstones and Peking glass purchased by a Swedish collector between the two world wars. Te jades offered by Mallams were mainly bought from established London dealers in the 1930s. Also on offer is a pair of early 19th-century China trade paintings depicting the Pearl River delta (est £3/4,000), two Indian ivory and stained horn vases and covers of a type usually associated with the late 18th-century workshops of Murshidabad, from the estate of Sir Peter Moores (est £1,500/2,000). Other lots include a 17th-century Sino-Tibetan gilt-bronze figure of the Amitayus Buddha (est £2/3,000) and a large Japanese Edo-period, four-fold screen painted with samurais fighting in a winter landscape, estimated at £1,000/2,000.

ROSEBERYS Islamic and Indian Art, 23 October, London
Highlights from the 400-lot sale include 55 lots from the Private Collection of Ruth and Cyrus Jhabvala (lots 10-65). Ruth Prawer Jhabvala (1927-2013) was an eminent writer, winner of the Booker Prize. She is perhaps best known for her long collaboration with Merchant Ivory Productions. Following on from their September sales, this auction, dedicated to Asian Art, includes Chinese ceramics, terracotta figures from the Tang dynasty, as well as a grey schist Gandharan sculpture from 2nd/3rd century (est Euro 5,000).
