ViewSonic projectors offer higher brightness and longer lamp life

ViewSonic Corp has introduced the PA5 Series of mainstream education and business projec- tors. The PA5 Series offers en- hanced brightness up to 3,600 lumens; in addition, the lamp life is extended up to 15,000 hours, on average, lowering the total cost of ownership, and providing an energy-efficiency projection solution. “We’re launching ViewSon-

ic’s new PA5 Series of projec- tors which allows us to set the standard for higher lumens and longer lamp life,” said Luke Chen, Business Line Manager for ViewSonic Europe. “With the advanced technology, the PA5 series is a great bargain for big screen projection in small spaces. We are happy to be of- fering our customers a reliable, cost-effective and high-quality mainstream projection solu- tion.”

The new Series projectors includes SVGA, XGA and

WXGA resolutions. 3,600 lu- mens brightness combined with a high contrast ratio of 22,000:1. Users can choose different lamp mode to extend the lamp’s lifespan. When Pow- er Saving setting is on and with- out any signal input, the projec- tor will automatically switch to Eco Mode and SuperEco Mode. Under SuperEco mode, project- ed images are dimmed to 70%, extending the lamp’s lifespan to 15,000 hours, on average, which means that lamp main- tenance is less frequent, keep- ing the costs and the amount of time spent on projector lamp maintenance low. PA5 Series projectors utilise ViewSonic’s proprietary Su- perColor Technology, which ViewSonic says allows them to project a wide range of visible colour for more realistic and accurate colour in both bright and dark environments, without sacrificing image quality.

Sony Europe has announced that it has completed the ac- quisition of Belgium‐based eSATURNUS, a company that provides leading clinical video over IP solutions in the med- ical field. Sony expects this acquisition to help further materialise Sony’s vision and strategy of providing new ser- vices and end‐to‐end clinical image workflow solutions for hospitals. eSATURNUS's deep know‐how of hospital operat- ing room workflows, as well as IP‐based video integration soft- ware, enables processing, con- trol and distribution of multiple image sources combined with medical information. Coupled with Sony’s imaging and AV/IT technologies in this field, the combined company expects to further develop a wide variety of smart clinical Video over IP solutions for inside and outside operating rooms. Sony’s acquisition of eSAT- URNUS includes all of eSAT- URNUS’s assets, covering intellectual property rights, as well as its technologies and software solution capabilities. Sony intends to expand the business first in Europe, with further international deploy- ment to follow in the future. Adam Fry, Vice President, Sony Professional, Sony Eu- rope, commented, “Over the past few years, we’ve seen the requirements within hospitals significantly change. There is a constant need to maximize the investment hospitals make in clinical equipment but with the advent of new technology

and workflow solutions, it has never been more important to them to be able to invest in ‘fu- ture proofed’ installations, with a holistic and long‐range view. This means hospitals are look- ing for end‐to‐end and state‐of‐ the‐art workflows that perform efficiently but that can also evolve over time. Together with eSATURNUS, Sony will aim to further develop smart, scalable and leading‐edge clinical Video over IP workflow solutions in digitally‐integrated operating room systems.” Toru Katsumoto, President of the Medical Business Unit, Business Executive of Sony Corporation commented: “The acquisition of eSATURNUS is an important milestone to- ward the mid‐range growth of Sony Corporation, where the medical business is positioned as one of Sony’s core growth drivers. Sony and eSATURNUS plan to harness their respec- tive strengths in hardware and software to develop and deliver state‐of‐the‐art medical solu- tions and services to custom- ers. Sony aims to become a major contributor to the future of medical industry.”
