Senior David Elkins signed to play and attend Mars Hill University last week. Besides fellow students and players, present at the signing were Peggy Elkins, his grandmother (seated beside Elkins), and (standing left to right) North Buncombe High Athletic Director Barry Owens, parents Ray and Lisa Elkins, brother Jacob Elkins and Coach David Rutledge.

Elkins signed with Mars Hill University to play and attend school at the home of the Lions. He said he felt pretty confident that some college or univer- sity would pick him up to play at the next level.

his family attended the signing, which was held in the media center at North Buncombe on Thursday, April 27. Elkins said he want- ed to thank his coach, David Rutledge, and his family. He plans on studying exercise sci- ence at Mars Hill.
