s you read about in last month’s issue of Smart- Biz, the 13th Annual Winn$tock Charity Fund- raiser was recently held at Cowboys Canad Inn
Destination Centre Windsor Park. Winnstock is a battle of the bands fundraiser for
people who work in the Financial Services, Real Estate, and Accounting industries. Te bands all really came to play and “Prime Time”
was selected as Best Band by the panel of celebrity judges: Tom McGouran, Howard Mandshein and Rich- ard Cloutier. Te attendees all had a blast dancing and partying and voted for “Mutual Funk” as the Fan Favorite band. Celebrity MC Greg Mackling kept the crowd en-
tertained between sets. Greg and Richard Cloutier combined to be formidable Celebrity Auctioneers for the live auction. Te event raised $101 K with charity partners being Te Movement Centre of Manitoba, March of Dimes
and the Winn$tock Legacy Trust (managed by the Win- nipeg Foundation). Te final expense items are still being tallied, but Allan Jacks, Senior Vice-President, Business Development with Knowledge Bureau and Co-Chair of the event, says he’s extremely proud of the fact that after expenses, over 90% of the funds raised will go directly to the charities! “Unfortunately we were only $19 K from reaching
our cumulative goal of $1 million raised since incep- tion. But it is not yet over,” says Jacks. “We will still be accepting tax-deductible donations until the end of May, and who knows, we just might still be able to hit our milestone goal on behalf of the children!
