AN auction of promises aims to raise more than £30,000 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of a charity in Cornwall. More than 100 lots have been donated for the event, with all pro- ceeds going to the Cornwall Air Ambu- lance.


These include a day on the gallops with leading racehorse trainer Andrew Balding, and a personal ‘walk and talk’ tour of the Jackson Foundation Gallery with artist Kurt Jackson. Other lots comprise a luxury beach-front villa holiday in Barbados, flights to the Isles of Scilly, pheasant shooting days and a champagne tea tour of Highgrove in Gloucestershire, home of Prince Charles. have been flown. A total of 160 guests will at- tend the auction night, which is already fully booked, at Scorrier House in early April when the lots will be going under local auc- tioneer Philip Martin’s hammer.

New services for vulnerable


THREE new services are providing commu- nity support for adults with learning disabili- ties.


Cornwall Council’s new services at The Old Magistrates Hall in Camborne, The Elms in Redruth and The Leats in Truro have replaced the Murdoch and Tre- vithick Day Centre in Redruth, which was in a poor state of repair. Councillor Andrew Wallis said: ‘It’s fan-


tastic to have three new services provid- ing support and pro- moting independence, inclusion and well-be- ing for some of our most vulnerable resi- dents.’


People using the new services had the chance to get in- volved in choosing the decor and, in some places, walls have been deliber- ately left bare so they can help decide what they should look like.
