in good condition and they only needed to replace one plank. The big job is upgrading the electrical system and cosmetics. A Wesmac 36 pleasure cruiser has a
new owner who wants some changes made before this coming boating season. They will be adding new countertops, check systems, add nonskid to her decks and upgrade her electronics. There were also two other boats (a
Hinckley and a Freedom) in storage that will have nonskid added. A 36 foot sailboat will be receiving a
new engine. She had a Volvo diesel and this is being replaced with a Beta. They are also rebuilding a 3208 Cat-
erpillar diesel, which will be going into a Grand Banks trawler.
Journeys End Marina in Rockland
has just started a new build. They are fi n- ishing off a Dixon 45 for lobster fi shermen from Vinalhaven. They have just started the project and are in the process of installing a 815-hp Baudouin diesel engine. She will be done this summer. They are repowering a sport fi shing boat
with a rebuilt 3208 Caterpillar diesel engine. An Osmond 40 will be receiving a C-15
Caterpillar. A S&S 58 foot sailboat had her hull
painted last year and this year they will be painting her decks. The end of February they will receive another Sabre 66. She will be in for paint.
Stockton Springs Marine has com-
pleted their new storage building. This building is 80 x 100 with a 20 foot high door. Presently it is being used for cold storage, but it does have radiant tubing in the fl oor. This year they fi lled the building with 25 boats. They also want to add a partition so that they can work on larger boats especially fi nishing off hulls. Stockton Springs Marine is a Tohatsu
outboard dealer and were second in the State for sales. They also did a lot of repair work
on all brands of outboards. One of their goals was to give next day service, which worked out well as many other service centers were extremely backed up. This winter they are doing several
small fi berglass jobs. A Cape Dory 27 is in for some minor keel repair. Also a 20 foot powerboat has received a new transom. Behind the offi ce they are working on
fi nishing off showroom. They are presently putting up the sheet rock and putting in the windows and wiring
Eric Dow Boatbuilder in Brooklin has
several repair jobs and a new build under- way.
In the main shop they have a Beetle Cat,
which is in for a new rub rail, small repairs and paint. Right next to her is a Haven 12½ for a customer from Nantucket. This is a new build and they have not done a Haven 12½ in almost 10 years. She was started in December and they will be done this spring. Presently they are fi nishing up her planking and she should be rolled over the middle of February. In the back shop, they have two Herres-
hoff 12½s. One was refastened, repairs made to her lazarette, and her garboards replaced last year. This year they are replacing her sheer strake and coamings. The other 12½ is getting refastened and recaulked. She will then be taken out to the storage shed because she has dried out so much and will be brought back later in the spring when they will strip and paint her. There is also another 12½ out in the storage shed which will be coming in shortly for repair work. She is scheduled to receive a new keel and have her bright work redone. Another interesting project will be
completing the planking on a peapod that was under construction by June Day when he passed away. This boat is still owned by the family. If that’s not enough, they have plenty of
work on their storage boats to do before the boating season arrives.
