South Freeport, has a busy winter ahead of them.

A Concordia 39 is in for some extensive

repair work. Presently they are re-caulking her teak decks and replacing deck beams as needed. They are also replacing her deck hatches. A Newman 46, a scalloper from Harp-

swell, is hauled up to be repowered. She had an 8V92 and this is being replaced with a 500-hp Lugger. They have also had her interior soda blasted and will repaint it. A 36 Sabreliner is in for a trackside

door, some plumbing work, exterior window frames, interior varnish and then they will

buff and wax the exterior. WALRUS, the fi rst Pulsifer Hampton

has been gutted. They have reattached the frames to the hull and upgraded the sheer strake so as to hold the heavy docking fend- ers since she will be used as a launch. They are now wondering whether they will want to repower her or not before the up-coming season. A Manchester 17 is coming in for gen- eral restoration. As for out in the yard, they have added

new fuel tanks, and a new gangway for the docks. They have also been recertifi ed by OSHA with the SHARP designation. Strout’s Point as we reported several

Robinhood Marine Services at Robin

Hood has more storage customers and much more work this winter. They have three Cape Dory 31s in to be

repowered. One will be receiving a 18-hp Yanmar, another a 20-hp Beta, and the last a 21-hp Universal. Two sailboats, a 35 and a 42 footer, are

in for bottom jobs. One is a cruising sailboat and this is the fi rst step in a several year rebuilding process. Her owner, who has just moved here, plans to use her as a liveaboard. An extensive refi t is underway on a 40

foot trawler, which also will have her bottom redone. They will redo her systems, add electronics and then Awlgrip her. A 1950s cabin cruiser is in to be re-

powered. She had a 305 gasoline engine in this is being rebuilt and having modern igni- tion system and gauges added before being re-installed. They are also going to remove her keel coolers and change it to raw water cooling. A Robinhood 36 is in and she will

have her systems inspected and repaired as needed and electronics added. She will be cruising up in Canada this summer. A Sea Sprite 30 is in for a total refi t

after a sinking. They are removing all her systems, engine, electronics and replacing as needed. They will then redo her cosmetic, which will include paint and varnish.

Another Robinhood 36 will have solar panels installed. There are a lot of storage boats this year

that need work before this season arrives. Last year they stored 89 boats and this year they have an additional 40 boats in storage. Also for the fi rst time they shrinkwrap them instead of using tarps. Work is also being done around the

yard. They are upgrading the bathrooms and the restaurant. One upgrade to the restaurant will include making it more open and chang- ing out the windows. Spartan sales are up 15 percent over last

year. Right now they are creating an online catalog which should help sales continue to rise. They are also now distributing in Germany and Australia.

As for brokerage they sold two power-

boats the fi rst of the year and a Cape Dory 30.

Edgecomb Boat Works in Edgecomb is like many yards on the coast, just hoping they can get all the work done before the boating season arrives. In one bay, they have a Crowley 36

pleasure cruiser, which is being repowered. She had a 420-hp Yanmar and this is being replaced with a Yanmar 440. They are also rewiring, moving the muffl er back and then building a custom folding bench seat for the stern of the boat. The Newman 32 is nearly complete. She

has had extensive work which has included refastening the cockpit fl oor, re-gelcoat the wash rails, trunk cabin and shelter. This boat was built in 1977 and needed a total upgrade. She is powered with a Cummins 210, but nothing was done to it this year. In another bay, is a Handy Billy, which
