The former French colonies of Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos offer an alluring combination of Far East exoticism accented with Gallic influences. Grand colonial palaces and ancient temples dot the lush landscapes, while floating markets and traditional villages add extra depth to the local flavour. Indo-China’s tumultuous history of war and conflict brings an added dimension to visits here, while the region’s relatively recent appearance on the tourist landscape means these countries – and particularly Laos – remain relatively fresh and unspoilt.

No one can escape the intoxicating Latin melting pot that is Brazil.
