26 | BIG DATA POISED FOR A GIANT LEAP INTO HEAVY LIFTING

Houston-based INFOCHIP® is releasing the TESSAlink Platform, intended to enable companies to assemble all of the data associated with their assets – and track anything and everything: predictive maintenance, on-the-spot reordering, inventory management, inspections, certifications, operations and more. It’s all about making the “industrial internet of things” a reality, and Tom Bamford, VP Channel Sales, Partner at InfoChip describes the way forward.

30 | A HIGH WIRE REPLACEMENT ACT OUT WEST

Nearly half a century is a long time for time for any piece of equipment, especially something as exposed to intense use and extreme weather as the Aerial Tram at Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort in Utah. While maintenance on the Tram is daily, the cables carrying the tram came due for replacement in 2016. Te two-month project involved a team of workers using a broad range of equipment to spool four 9200-foot cables up the mountain and remove the old cable.

ON THE COVER: Utah claims to have the “greatest snow on Earth” and one of the most popular ways for winter sports enthusiasts to reach it is the Aerial Tram at Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort. During a two-month project beginning in April 2016, workers – in a constrained site with frequent weather challenges – replaced the four massive cables used to carry the tram over four towers as it gains 2900 feet in elevation in about seven minutes.
