WHAT’S NEW COLUMBUS MCKINNON REDEFINES LEVER-OPERATED HOISTS WITH NEW CM TORNADO 360°
Columbus McKinnon Corporation (NASDAQ: CMCO) has redefined ratchet lever hoists with the introduction of the new CM Tornado 360°™ featuring the revolutionary Sidewinder™ lever handle.
Ergonomically designed for increased safety, the patent-pending CM Tornado 360° allows the operator to be more productive with significantly less effort than conventional ratchet lever tools.
“To create the best ratchet lever hoist on the market, Columbus McKinnon started by asking a simple question: how do people use ratchet lever tools to perform their job?” said Andre Schon, Senior Global Product Manager – Manual Hoist Products. “A global team of CMCO engineers and application specialists performed extensive research and customer interviews to engineer and build a first-in-class product that exceeds the ergonomic and performance expectations of our customers around the world.”
The CM Tornado’s Sidewinder lever handle features a 360-degree rotating lever and a fold-out revolving handle. These integrated components allow the operator to realize the full potential of 360° rotation while working in a safe and ergonomic position. This unique design reduces repetitive wrist action experienced with traditional lever hoists, letting the operator utilize a full 360˚ range of motion to work up to 12 times faster. The Tornado’s double-reduction gearing and high-quality bearings decrease pull force by up to 30 percent, minimizing operator fatigue as compared to using conventional ratchet lever tools.
The Tornado is available in 3/4 and 1-1/2 ton capacities with standard lifts up to 20 feet. Additional lifts are also available. The hoist features an industry-leading lifetime warranty and meets ASME B30.21 manually operated hoist standard. Outside of the North American market, this hoist is available to customers under the Yale brand as the Yale Ergo 360°™ ratchet lever hoist. y

WHAT’S NEW NEW CM WEBLOK™ ASSEMBLY FEATURES UNIQUE DOUBLE LOAD PIN RETENTION FOR OPTIMAL SAFETY
Combining the industry-leading CM Hammerlok® coupling link with a CM web sling attachment, Columbus McKinnon Corporation (NASDAQ: CMCO) introduces the CM Weblok™ Assembly for synthetic sling lifting applications.
Unlike any of its competitors, the CM Weblok features a double load pin retention system, using both traditional and bolt/lock nut retention. The unique design prevents the load from backing out during extreme use – delivering the highest degree of load securement on the market.
“The development of CM Weblok is a direct result of us listening to our customers,” said Troy Raines, Chain and Rigging Product Engineering Manager. “A team of CMCO application and product specialists, product managers and engineers worked closely with a major automotive manufacturer to address its safety concerns.”
Made in the USA, CM Weblok Assemblies are versatile and easy to use. Made of durable forged alloy steel, CM Webloks feature greater ductility, better fatigue life and higher ductile strength than cast parts. CM Weblok Assemblies have a 5:1 design factor and are 100 percent proof tested. They are designed to meet ASTM A9652 and WSTDA-RS1 standards.

WHAT’S NEW MODULIFT DELIVERS LARGEST-EVER SPREADER BEAM, MOD 800X/1500
Modulift has manufactured its largest ever spreader beam that can lift a staggering 1,500t at a span of 20m. The feat of below-the-hook engineering was delivered to Holland-based Safe Lifting Europe B.V, an equipment / service provider to the marine industry, at the end of 2016.
The MOD 800X/1500 has 1,000t / 800t, top / bottom wide body shackles at each end and is the second 1,000t+ spreader beam Modulift has manufactured in less than three months, as the super
heavy lift sector continues to demand higher capacity equipment.
The latest beam received DNV Design Approval and DNV GL CG3 certification; the latter certifies that DNV carried out a full survey during the manufacturing and testing process, as well as approving the design. The beam took eight weeks to manufacture and test in a purpose-built compression test rig. The rig had to be upgraded so Modulift could apply a proof load of 1,650t (working load limit [WLL] x 1.1) to the spreader beam. y
