GENSETS
GENSETS WITH REAL ECO- BENEFITS
USbased genset manufacturer FlexEnergy has revealed that its products have been added to the wellknown New York State Energy Research & Development Association’s (NYSERDA) Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Programme catalogue, reports APN.
he programme provides customers in New York state with financial incen- tives for the installation of packaged CHP modules up to 3 MW, or bespoke systems larger than 1 MW. This is an important endorsement of the power and effectiveness of the Flex Turbine GT333S gas-fired genset which has now been fully approved by NYSERDA. "We are pleased to have met the require-
T
ments necessary for inclusion in the NYSER- DA Combined Heat and Power program catalogue,’ Mark Schnepel, president and CEO of FlexEnergy tells AMERICAN POWER NEWS. ‘From the beginning, our goal has been to manufacture the cleanest and most reliable power generation equip- ment in the industry." The Flex Turbine® is the most reliable small gas turbine generator with proven high up time in harsh environmental conditions. The Flex Turbine offers best in class fuel toler- ance, reliability and emissions. It provides high energy efficiency, up to 85% total, in a compact package for grid connected CHP projects. It is a great fit for prime power and with multiple units paralleled to start and run high horsepower grid independent loads. The
Flex Turbine core engine is the most advanced in the industry with variable inlet guide vanes to ensure high efficiency and low emissions even when systems are running at part power. The Flex Turbine was adapted from the Dresser Rand KG2 by Ingersoll Rand in the early 2000's. Now matured and deployed by FlexEnergy and Flex Leasing Power and Service, its performance has been proven over a decade of operations on a wide range of gases and varied environmental conditions in North America, Europe, Latin America and Asia.
The Flex Turbine offers a high degree of
Fuel Tolerance. It can handle a wide gas range: ~300 Btu/scf to ~2500 Btu/scf and is Sour Gas tolerant; up to 6,500 ppmv H2S and is Acid Gas tolerant. It can cope with up to 70% CO2 and Low Supply Pressure Gas; it comes with anInternal Gas Booster option. The Flex Turbine offers High Efficiency
CHP - up to 85% total with internal cogenera- tion heat exchanger, reports FlexEnergy. It represents a Synchronous Generator, with Single unit starts up to 125+ HP load Direct On Line (DOL). The unit offers Cyclical load control and features Integrated controls with
Flex Turbine® GT250. "We are
pleased to have met the requirements necessary for inclusion in the
NYSERDA Combined Heat and Power program catalogue."

paralleling and synchronizing, with multiple units paralleled for operating high horsepower loads. It produces Low exhaust emissions; Certified to California Natural Gas Distributed Generation Standards. The environmental benefits of deploying the
Flex Turbine® include: •Avoids flaring: Flex Turbine® reliably generates using collected flare gas and vent gas;
•Eliminates diesel usage: Site gas used for
power. Diesel fuel no longer needed; •Clean air: Meets most stringent state and federal requirements for air permitting; •Low sound:
•GHG Reduction: Facility CO2 footprint reduced with Flex Turbine® CHP. •Commercial and industrial facility energy cost reduced with efficient Flex Turbine® CHP and CCHP
•Simpler permitting and cleaner air with 10 times lower emissions than typical natural gas-fired or diesel-fired engine generator •Long life industrial package with proven lubricated bearing design widely used in mis- sion critical and utility grade gas turbines •Safe, Quiet operation for noise sensitive city installaitons and unmanned locations •Significant fuel savings by eliminating diesel fuel delivery and usage for remote prime power
•Highest reliability of power with runtime availability of ~99% and only one planned maintenance per year.

FlexEnergy says both commercial and industrial facility energy costs can be reduced with efficient Flex Turbine® CHP and CCHP. It offers 10 times lower emissions than typical natural gas-fired or diesel-fired engine generator (Flex Turbine® GT250). It is available in a long -ife industrial pack- age with proven lubricated bearing design widely used in mission-critical and utility grade gas turbines. The unit offers safe, quiet opera- tion for noise-sensitive city installaitons and unmanned locations. It offers ignificant fuel savings by eliminating diesel fuel delivery and usage for remote prime power and has runtime availability of ~99% and needs only one planned mainte- nance per year.
