dance and itsmany forms. While long since retired as a per- former, Imade it a personalmission ofmine to remain in the danceworld contributingwhat I can to support its growth in theNorth Texas region and beyond. I do that inmy spare time with theDance Council ofNorth Texas and as a living,manag- ing the FineArtsDivision of theDallas Public Library.

Whether you are taking your first dance class, working as a professional, dedicating your life through scholarly study, a retired performer or a dance advocate, Iwant this publication to be a resource that supports you as your experiencewith dance grows and evolves. This publication ismeant to empow- er you, guide you to stay connected to the dance community and to educate.

It’s an exciting time forme to take on this opportunity as Editor. etme introducemyself, I amthe new Dance!North Texas Editor, Tiffany Bailey, and I amhonored to take on this new role. I have been amember since 2013,

Planet’s 20th year in existence at Booker T.WashingtonHigh

School for the Performing and VisualArts.Over 80 companies and performance groups came together to showcase their works for an incredible and free 2-day event. In addition to these events, 2016marked the first year thatwe’ve adopted and implemented a neworganizational strategic plan. This has allowed theDance Council to think aboutwhowe are as an organization, whatwe hope to achieve in the coming years and howwe are going to support and advocate for dance on a local and national level. Working under a newstrategic plan has been such a rewarding and enlightening process, one that I amconfidentwill continue to strengthen this organization as wemove into 2017.

The support of ourmembers, communities and the continued dedication of ourworking board iswhatmakes this organiza- tion thrive. I’d like to extend a special thanks to Linda James for her years of service not only as Editor of Dance!North Texas but also as a leader and advocate in the dance community. Thank you for all you have done for theDance Council of North Texas and for all the help and assistance you have given me as I transition into this newrole. You are inspiring in every way.

As your neweditor, I hope to continue to bring to you the publication you have grown to knowand lovewhile supporting the opportunity for growth and evolution.
