Booker T.WashingtonHigh School for the Performing and VisualArtswelcomes its newest dance facultymember, Zac Hammer. Zac began his dance training at age ten.During his early training, he apprenticedwith BalletOklahoma, under the direction of Bryan Pitts. In 2007, Zac graduated summa cum laudewith a BFAin dance performance fromSouthernMethodist University,where his original choreographywas produced as part of themainstage season.He has been cast in numerous industri- als, and is a nationally recognized teacher of ballet,modern, and jazz. From2007 to 2010, Zac toured both abroad and domestically with ParsonsDance, and from2010 to 2014,was a dancer in the NewYork City cast of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular.Other companies include theNicholasAndreDance Company,Amy MarshallDance Company, dre.dance, andAlison Chase Performance.Upon returning toDallas in 2014, he hasworked as an adjunct professor of jazz dance at SouthernMethodist University,managed and taught all styles of dance at Preston CenterDance, and has been on faculty at theKDConservatory. Choreographicworks include theDIFFAFashion Show, TheMiss Texas Pageant, theMaryKay Industrial, and numerousmodern and jazz pieces for soloist and groups across the country.He is incredibly excited to join the faculty at BTWHPVA.

Suzanne Farrell Balletwill says goodbye at the end of their 2017-2018 season. The decision to closewasmade in order to sup- port upcoming organizational changes at theKennedy Center for their 2018-2019 Season. Suzanne Farrellwill no longer serve as the artistic director for the company andwill take on a newrole as the resident teaching artist.
Ralph Lemon’s contribution to dance through choreography and innovativemovementwas recognized as hewas presented with the 2015NationalMedal of theArts in September at the WhiteHouse.
Career Transition forDancers Celebrated their 31st Anniversarywith a Jubilee held at theNewYorkMarriott Marqius. The evening honored Joe Lanteri/theNewYork City DanceAlliance Foundation and philanthropists Barbara and Donald Tober forOutstanding Contributions to theWorld of Dance. The evening raised $800,000 andwas presented by the Lloyd E. Rigler-Lawrence
E.Deutsch Foundation and benefits the Actors Fund’s CTFDservices for the dance community.
