a new location. With downtime loss- es and expenses, we were more than $20,000 in debt. In 2012, we finally found the perfect


rental location where we remain to- day. Over the years, we have expanded within the location three times. Today we have 12,000 square feet of space and about 500 members. To grow our membership we have


done newspaper, radio and bench signs, and we’re active on social me- dia. But our true success is clearly the result of our members’ outstanding fit- ness results and our excellent customer service. Hence, word of mouth has been our best sales and retention strategy. Our 500 members pay on average


$35 per month. Some people say that we’re crazy to not offer pre-authorized payment plans and to operate without contracts, but both of these seem to fuel our club’s positive word of mouth and member loyalty. We have no plans to change. We love what we do and our hours

first year, there were just 15 ath- letes; this year’s contest currently has 45 competitors registered with the furthest athlete travelling all the way from Kapuskasing, which is al- most 1,000 kilometres away.
