Dear Readers,
The photo on this month’s front cover is taken in our garden. The blackbird, affeconately known as ‘Scruff’, has been a constant presence for the last couple of months. We’ve researched why he has such an unusual appearance and, although there could be several reasons, he’s a chirpy chap and champion wormer. He’s always hovering at the crack of dawn, waing for me to put out some bird food and equally enjoys the birdbath and pebble pool for a good old freshen up. He’s entertained visitors and family alike and brought many a smile to our faces. The sadness of losing our dog last year has been tempered somewhat by the abundance and variety of birds that now visit our garden. I’m amazed at just how oen I have to top up the feeders. There have been many evenings, when watching the bird acvity has been far more interesng than anything to be found on television….except of course Wimbledon! Enjoy your Village Voice.
