Flooring, Furnishing & Lighting

Those feet were made for walking...

Over the course of our lives, our feet walk many miles so what they tread on is important to us – what is underneath our toes in our homes will probably be one of our major, long term furnishing investments. Get it right and you will enjoy comfort, practicality, durability and style – but with so much choice in the marketplace, how do you get it right?

Well, seeking advice from your local flooring experts is the best place to start! They will guide you through the varying types of floor coverings available to help you select the most appropriate for your particular requirements, leaving you the fun choices of colour, style and pattern!

Where is it being laid and how much wear will it take are the two most important questions. If the floor covering is for a kitchen or bathroom where moisture is likely from steam, condensation, even spills, vinyl flooring is ideal. Today, this material can offer you all the variety and styling of natural finishes (wood, tiles, slate, marble or stone for example); is moisture-resistant so will not mould or mildew; can be readily dried in the event of spillage or damp; if fitted correctly, will not warp or distort; and should provide many years of durability (some manufacturers offer up to 15 year guarantees when installed by an approved fitter).

Equally, for areas of excessive wear, eg hallways, play areas or utility/boot rooms, vinyl flooring will keep its good looks no matter what your life or family throw at it because it is so easy to clean and maintain.

Many vinyls are now available with comfort backings, feeling soft and warm underfoot, making them just as suitable for use in areas traditionally covered with carpet. If you do want that bury-your-toes luxury around your home, expert advice is essential as there are so many considerations to bear in mind when purchasing something you are planning to live with for a considerable time.

Again, location and wear will be the first questions they ask but no matter how much care you take in the selection process, this can be completely negated if you do not then have your new carpet properly fitted, together with the correct underlay.

Why not choose the people you can trust to take you right the way through the process – from friendly, knowledgeable advice in their showroom; sample service for you to take home and 'live' with before making your final choice; to a full measuring and installation service by experienced fitters who can recommend how to care for your new investment...
