benefitted several hundred millennials in Hampton Roads, said Carlos Clanton, President of the National Urban League Young Professionals. According to Board member Tonya Perkins, “we saw a proliferation of many new events such as the Annual Golf Classic, Changing Lives Breakfast and Legacies that served as fundraisers and friend-raisers for the organization.”


Volume 10 Number 9 In her role as CEO, she broadened


the visibility of the organization as a featured presenter, panelist and speaker for numerous churches, colleges and the military. After May 2016, White plans to continue supporting the Urban League movement through volunteer efforts both locally and nationally. She also plans to continue to host her weekly radio show, Building a Better Life with Edith White. She serves on numerous Boards, committees and councils. Her service has been recognized by many organizations with numerous awards and honors including a 2015 Doctor of Humane Letters from Providence Bible College and Seminary.


“Edith’s contributions leave the


ULHR in a position to continue a legacy of achievement” said, Chairman Hayes. The Board Human Capital Committee will lead a national search for a successor.

Hampton, VA – On Wednesday, May 18, the Hampton Roads Convention Center will host an opening reception for Halls of Art XVII, a gallery comprised of 45 regional artists and 50 pieces of art. The event, beginning at 6:00 p.m., will celebrate those who were chosen to display their work at the facility.


The artists presented at the event were all chosen by members of the Public


Arts Steering business people, Committee, backgrounds, Hampton a


group of Hampton citizens from various professional


Commission board members, residents, and more.

Convention Center will be available for purchase. The center is currently

requesting that any art purchased be allowed to remain in the building for six months, however special exceptions will be made. Interested parties are encouraged to contact the artists directly for further information about their art.
