hose who know Rick Mayhew and Mariella DiSanto know that they have always had a
spectacular yard. Like many garden- ers who remain in the same home for a number of years, their yard, and by extension their gardens have grown with their family. The only thing that has remained static is the element of family and their dedication to grow-

ing a garden filled with love. When their three children were
young, Rick and Mariella provided each with a raised garden bed to tend to. The first year Micaela was a little lacka- daisical about taking care of her plot. Braidan managed to grow some corn through little effort of his own. Their youngest, Quentin, proved himself to be the future young gardener as he
actually took time to do some weeding. Of course the yard had a large play
structure with a fort and swings. It is actually still there, a reminder of days past and a distraction for other’s chil- dren visiting with their parents. Both Mariella and Rick are meticu-
lous by nature and have a keen eye for design, especially Rick, who has made a living from his ability to turn empty
