FIRST CHOICE

Ruslan International’s reputation in the aerospace industry also made it the obvious choice for longstanding customer Rolls-Royce for a cross- channel flight from the UK to south-west France carrying the highest-thrust production engine the manufacturer has ever made on its way to undergo extensive testing.

The new Trent XWB-97 engine, manufactured by Rolls-Royce in its Derby facility was delivered from East Midlands Airport to the Airbus testing facility in Toulouse.

The movement was particularly urgent due to the tight production schedules involved and the need to transport the engine over road from Toulouse Airport to Airbus during restricted times added a layer of complexity to the operation. However, thanks to close coordination between the two companies the delivery was a complete success.

FUTURE FLIGHT

The Trent XWB-97 engine will actually take flight on an Airbus A380 flying test bed at the Toulouse facility.

Paul Bingley, Key Account Manager at Ruslan International said: “Ruslan International has worked consistently with Rolls-Royce since the company’s inception in 2006 and this flight marks the next exciting step in our relationship. It is a privilege to be carrying a load which has such significance for Rolls-Royce.”

‘We have worked closely with Ruslan International over the last several years, primarily on the Trent XWB engine project. They have always managed to undertake projects for us faultlessly, and we were delighted to be able to partner with them again on this

flagship project,” added Tim Boddy, Head of Marketing for the Trent XWB at Rolls-Royce.
