n our final edition of 2015, our cover shows a selection of leaders from law enforcement, fire and emergency services and professional security organisations
standing shoulder to shoulder with images from Paris, whose citizens have suffered the recent appalling attack. This atrocious incident further demonstrates the significant challenges ahead and in the weeks and months to come, the lessons to learn from this and other terrorist attacks. With this in mind, we feature a range of views on the way forward in 2016 from leaders and experts from law enforcement and security, including: three police chief constables, chairs of the major UK security organisations, and a range of chief officers from leading security providers.
We also focus on transport security issues, including how private security can relieve pressure at border control, combatting human trafficking and a profile of Paul Crowther, Chief Constable at British Transport Police. Eugene O’Mahony, Editor
Seasonal messages from our partners, the City of London Crime Prevention Association and City of London Police...
...Chair, City of London Crime Prevention Association, Don Randall MBE, CSyP In writing this message, I know you would want me, on your behalf, to pay our respects and give supportive thoughts to those families and loved ones who have suffered as a consequence of the continued barbaric terrorist activities executed under the banner of ISIL. The recent Paris and Tunisia attacks clearly identify their intent to kill and maim members of our society, who are going about their work, enjoying their holidays and other recreational activities as part of every day life.
We must and will continue our public/private partnerships in combatting this ongoing threat, the CSSC and Project Griffin being just two examples.
In acknowledging these difficult and troubled times, and the grief many are suffering, may I, on behalf of the CoLCPA and City Security, wish you a safe and enjoyable festive season.
...Commissioner, City of London Police, Adrian Leppard QPM The City of London remained one of the safest places in the UK over 2015, with crime rates enviably low. This does not mean we at the City of London Police are complacent; 2015 opened with the Charlie Hebdo atrocity in Paris and is closing with the recent terrible attack in that city, reminding us that terrorism, in all its guises, is never far from our borders. Vigilance is our most powerful weapon against those who seek to disrupt our lives with fear and violence, and the City Police are very grateful for the continued help and support we receive from those of you who live and work in the City. May I take this opportunity to wish you a happy and peaceful Christmas.
...Chairman, City of London Corporation Police Committee, Patron, City of London Crime Prevention Association, Deputy Henry Pollard 2016 will see my fourth and final year as Chairman of the City of London’s local policing body. We share the goals of all PCCs in ensuring an efficient and effective policing service, responsive to the needs of our communities, holding the Commissioner to account, maintaining high levels of performance and monitoring standards and integrity. I’m delighted that the Force continues to perform at the highest level with the help of innovation and commitment from staff.
I would like to thank Commissioner Adrian Leppard who is retiring after five years of sterling and inspirational leadership and also thank the membership of the City of London Crime Prevention Association for their support.
I wish you and your families the best this Christmas and for 2016. > 1 FOR YOUR FREE SUBSCRIPTION AND FURTHER INFORMATION VISIT
