BY JASMINE BLACKWELL There are grounds in the Hampton
Roads area that encompass a spiritual greatness that many are unaware of. These grounds were purchased by a visionary who introduced the faith of Abraham to a number of people throughout the world.
Runaway slave, stemmed William
Saunders Crowdy, was called upon by God to re-introduce a way of living that
from economics to
self-improvement, at a time when the world was filled with hate.
It was on November 8, 1896 that
Prophet William Saunders Crowdy incorporated the Church of God and Saints of Christ, “the oldest Afri- can-American

Indies, and the in the

continent of
Africa, but its headquarters are located in the heart of Hampton Roads.
Prophet Crowdy purchased acres
of land that became the foundation for a future of prosperity in the Hampton Roads. This land managed to thrive despite the mayhem that surrounded throughout the years.
Crowdy’s original purchase was that of 40 acres of land, but now the land encompasses approximately 500 acres that are located in North Suffolk. There is a master plan in effect that has already been approved by the city of Suffolk and is a true testament to the prosperity that is to come.
Plans included the construction
of senior living facilities, affordable single family homes, a medical center, hotel, and leases for other businesses with the purpose of bettering the surrounding communities.
“These all fall within Prophet
Crowdy's vision of developing a community dedicated to God and serving the needs of fellow man,” Rabbi Phillip McNeil said of the construction being done on the remaining acreage.
The Church of God and Saints of Christ will continue
Crowdy’s vision through by constantly contributing
to the Hampton Roads area.
This vision includes the Ancient Plan of Salvation, which is “a way of
betterment
to see of
life, grounded in the Judaic faith, that is a complete guide to relegating all aspects of one’s life to the will of God,” Rabbi McNeil said.
“Chief Rabbi Jehu A. Crowdy,
Jr., now leader of our congregation, has taken over the promulgation of the prophet's legacy by continuing to build the moral and spiritual strength of the congregation [and] community by overseeing the completion of the Master Plan for further development,” Rabbi Phillip McNeil said.
There are a number of great
efforts, to include community leaders and developers with Crowdy’s great grandson, Jehu August Crowdy, Jr., leading the way.
“It is a blessing to be in this
spiritual place echoing the vision of my great grandfather, Prophet William
Saunders Crowdy. chains It is undeniable
that he was a gift from God. Imagine how this great man broke free from the

his legacy and the global religious organization that is the result of his labor,” Chief Executive Rabbi Jehu A. Crowdy, Jr. said.
The truly remarkable story of a
runaway slave that was able to lay the foundation for his people through hard work and faith is one that simply cannot be forgotten.
Re-establishment Day is a time
to reflect upon the many contributions made by Crowdy, while being sure that his vision is seen through by following the Ancient Plan of Salvation, which is believed to have the ability to change the world.
The 119th Re-establishment
Day service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 11:15 a.m. Come and join the celebration at the International Headquarters,
Temple Suffolk, Virginia.
“We welcome everyone to join us in this Re-establishment Day commemoration and worship service. One can expect a warm atmosphere of fellowship, hospitality and worship as we mark the 119th Anniversary of our existence,” Rabbi Phillip McNeil said speaking of the upcoming event marked to remember Prophet William S. Crowdy, while looking to promote the further development of his work.
