Yellow lines

‘only answer’ COUNCILLORS calling for an up- date on the parking issue in Burial Ground Lane heard that busi- nesses and the police were aware of the situation. If nothingwas done to stop park-

ing on the pavement, yellow lines could be the only way to resolve the problem, the meeting heard. Ward councillors had visited businesses in the area and been given assurances by bosses at A Plant that they would take action to ensure staff and visitors used their car park. Councillors said that while they

were pleased that the Tovil busi- nesses were doing well, staff park- ing on the pavement were forcing pedestrians to walk in the road. It was reported that the police

were aware of the issue and would be revisiting the area. After that, the only long-term option would be to provide parking restrictions.

Fete meeting AN open meeting was due to be held to discuss the possibility of a council-run community fete in the village next summer. Cllr Abigail Hogg said the meet-

ing would gauge support and hopefully encourage volunteers to assist.

THE councilwas due to hold a spe- cial budget meeting to determine the parish precept on Tuesday, No- vember 17. Councillors stated it was their

hope to agree a budget that would allow them to freeze the precept for a second year in a row.

Next meeting

THE next meeting will be at Tovil Working Men’s Club on Monday, December 7, starting at 7pm with the public forum and ward coun- cillor update.
