The AMEA is working on a collaborative membership drive with NAFME HQ for the next few months and we would love to have your help.

Our goal is to increase

membership by 5% by February 1st. The campaign will have a direct mail and email marketing component.

As a current member, you know well the benefits of membership and would be an excellent resource in helping us achieve this goal. We have recently made a “Call for Volunteers” and have a terrific group of volunteers ready to begin the work of growing our membership. It is not too late to volunteer! The Alabama Music Educators Association, Higher Education Division invites research poster submissions from all levels of music scholars and practitioners. Submissions may include completed and in-progress research studies involving any aspect of music (edu- cation, therapy, history, psychology, per- formance, music in higher education, etc.). Research based on issues facing music edu- cators, musicians, and music students in the Southeastern United States are especially wel- come, though this is not a requirement.

All submissions should meet the Code of Ethics found in the Journal of Research in Music Education.

Research presented at other conferences will be considered. However, previously pub- lished work will not be accepted.



Conference Days and Location. The AMEA conference will be Thursday, January 21, 2016 – Saturday, January 23, 2015 at the Renaissance Montgomery Hotel and Con- vention Center in Montgomery, Alabama. See for more information.

Poster Session Day and Time. The poster session will be on Friday afternoon. Check the conference page of the AMEA website for more information about the schedule.

Proposal Submission. Interested re- searchers should submit a detailed abstract of the research project (up to 1000 words) as a Word or PDF document through our on- line submission website: http://amea-re-

Deadline. Submissions must be received by 11:59 p.m. CST on Monday, November 16, 2015 for full consideration.

Process for Review & Notification. All ab- stracts will be peer-revised and authors will be notified of acceptance by email on Mon- day, December 7, 2015. When accepted, at least one of the authors must register and at- tend the AMEA Conference to present the poster.

Poster Dimensions. Posters should be pro- fessional in appearance and have poster di- mensions of dimensions no larger than 36 inches by 48 inches. Presenters are expected to bring 15-20 copies of their research ab- stract to the session.
