NatWest recognises local management teams' skills and success

The TVBMA Management Team of the Year Award celebrates innovative, forward-thinking and visionary leaders in the Thames Valley. We are looking for a team that's been instrumental in creating a highly successful business or that has managed and led a successful project, deal or venture

In the 14 years of sponsoring this award we have worked hard to ensure a high-quality judging process through the building of a judging panel comprising of well respected people from the local business community. Representatives of former award-winning management teams at

THE JUDGING PANEL

“When I was managing director of Leasedrive, we won the Management Team of the Year Award three times in a row. During these three years we tripled our EBITDA to over £15 million and this paved the way for our successful exit at the end of 2013 when the business was sold to HG Capital.

David Bird, director

“Although myself and my management partner, Roddy Graham, have now left the business, the remainder of the management team continues to make great strides in the merged business, Zenith Leasedrive, which is now one of the top 10 players in the contract hire industry in the UK.

“I am greatly looking forward to sitting on the 2015 judging panel and am on the lookout for a management team that can repeat the success we enjoyed at Leasedrive.“

“Sophos was delighted to win the Business Management Team award in 2010. It provided further validation that as a team we were succeeding in executing our strategy; providing complete IT security.

“Sophos continues to go from strength to strength. We now have in excess of 2,000 employees, over 200,000 customers and over 100 million users of our product. We are a global leader in IT security, providing a complete, integrated security system that protects our customers and their data from today's complex threats. We are proud to be one of the UK’s largest technology companies.

Nick Bray, CFO

“As former winners, I am personally delighted to represent Sophos and join this year's judging panel. As a business we know how satisfying it is to win these kinds of awards and it's great to be part of the process of finding a deserving winner this year."

“During my professional career at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, there was no doubt that the success of our clients was founded on the excellence of their management teams.

“As president of the Chamber, I meet many businesses in the region and hear examples of the strategic decisions made by management teams that drive businesses forward. I was therefore very pleased to be invited to judge this award and look forward to seeing the entries”.

Ian Smith, group president THE BUSINESS MAGAZINE – THAMES VALLEY – JULY/AUGUST 2015

“We were delighted to be finalists, let alone win the Management Team of the Year category for 2014 (£25m+). It was wonderful to recognise the efforts of a management team who had worked tirelessly through adversity and the most challenging trading conditions seen in a long time and come out the other side with an even better business.

“The award has meant a great deal to the International profile of our business as we have received many e-mails of congratulations from suppliers from all over Europe and as far as the Far East and the USA. I would urge every business which is proud of its management team and their achievements to enter this most prestigious award.“

Peter Harrison, Furniture Village

Leasedrive and Sophos plc comprise the panel for this year's award, alongside Ian Smith, group president of the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce.
