and Mark Nolasco of Orange, completed all requirements to reach Eagle, the Boy Scouts of America’s highest honor. Rea- gan is a member of Troop 241, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Orange, and recently graduated from Orange Lutheran High, planning to attend Pacific Uni- versity in Oregon. For his Eagle project, Nolasco

built a locking cabinet and cello cart, with a stained interior and a black lacquer exterior surface, for Cerro Villa Middle School’s music department. Finding that he had an excess of $472 from his successful fundraising, he donated the money to the music department for supplies. Reagan is the third Nolasco

brother to make Eagle Scout for Troop 241. His older brothers Mark and Tristen also achieved this distinction.

Beware hot asphalt

As our summer thermom-

eter soars, dog owners should be aware that asphalt surfaces can be far hotter than the air tempera- ture. For example: a 77 degree air temperature can correspond to 125 on the asphalt; 86 equals 135; and 87 becomes 143. This kind of heat can have a severe affect on animal paws and children’s bare feet. Skin can be damaged in 60 seconds when in contact with 125 degree heat.
