available resources, limited technology and comfort. With the discovery of fossil fuels, this changed dramatically. However, it is now becoming apparent that this change is not truly sustainable. The depletion of resources, as well as their environmental, social and climate impact is undeniable.

The world is now demanding improved efficiency, searching for renewable alternatives and driving the development of

both the production and use of energy, yet as it diversifies it is once more becoming localised. Theoretically, everyone has the choice to become a producer or user, but whether as an individual or on a community level, it remains imperative that available capacities and fluctuating demands are connected. Saving energy, enabling the use of renewables and maximising their potential is a virtuous and necessary cause

with an enduring future and one that generates energy to span the generations.

Pipe production Thermaflex develops smart solutions for thermal distribution using state-of-the-art flexible pre-insulated piping systems that are applied in residential areas, offices, hotels public buildings and industries across the globe. In line with its energy and environment saving mission, the company strives

to achieve full sustainability. It therefore looks for efficient and renewable energy sources to use in its own production processes. It also uses raw materials that, whilst meeting the highest health and safety standards, are energy- efficient and can be recycled. The carrier pipes are made from polybutene (PB-1), which has a temperature range from -15 to +95 deg C and is particularly suitable for district heating schemes as its smooth interior walls
