Have you discovered your new Health Visiting Service?
ver the last four years Health Visiting Services across England have transformed. In Bath and North East Somerset we are very proud of our improved service and the feedback we are receiving from parents.
O
If you are pregnant, have a baby or children under four years old your local Health Visitors will welcome you at any of the new Baby Feeding Hubs. Baby Feeding Hubs are gradually replacing baby clinics as supportive drop-ins that offer families social support and information around early parenting.
Mothers, fathers and carers are all welcome and encouraged to share experiences and talk through any worries with a Health Visitor, in a relaxed environment. You can also borrow lovely up-to- date books and resources. You will have the opportunity to meet your Health Visitor before your baby is born and again soon after the birth. These visits will usually be in your home – later visits may be in community settings like Children’s Centres, community halls, health centres and GP surgeries. Health Visitors work alongside families offering timely support and information, helping you make decisions that are right for you and your family.
In 2015 we will be launching Antenatal Parenting Courses for all mothers-to-be and their partners or supporters. It will offer a great opportunity to get to know your local Health Visiting team during pregnancy, make friends, get access to up-to-date information and explore the exciting changes ahead of you.
