Tree for the money Hot job markets to watch in Manitoba this month 1 NewLeaf Travel Company
The “ultra low-cost air carrier” NewLeaf Travel will be looking to fill over 750 jobs in its new Winnipeg headquarters to launch air travel this summer. NewLeaf is teaming up with Flair Airlines to operate the airplanes, and provide maintenance and air crews, so the remaining jobs will deal with running the Winnipeg
operations. NewLeaf’s focus is on vacation packages, hotel accommodations, rental
vehicles and entertainment. Want to work in the stunning Winnipeg Richardson International Airport? Keep an eye out.
www.smartbizwpg.com 2 Home health care Want to make sure you secure employment
after your studies in the next few years? One of the fields projected to grow from 2015 to 2020 substantially is the job of providing care for the elderly within their homes. Jobs related to assisting with the upkeep of the home – along with nurse aides, registered nurses, order- lies and patient service associates – will be in-demand. In 2015, there were approximately 61,900 home health care jobs in Canada. In 2020, there is projected to be over 69,000 – a 12 per cent increase. Topping this list still were jobs in community care facilities for the elderly.
3 Computer systems design
Another fastest-growing industry in Canada is computer systems design. Information systems analysts and consultants top the list, with more than 34,000 currently employed in Canada. By 2020, nine per cent more jobs will be created. Computer
programmers, interactive media designers, and software engineers and designers are also among the group expecting to see their industry thrive. Software engineers, though a smaller part of the workforce now, will see a 16 per cent increase, and their nation- wide average is $41.21 per hour.
