June 2015 Around Hampton Roads
Suffolk’s Harbour View Continues Attracting Retail Development
SUFFOLK, Northern Suffolk’s Harbour View has established itself as a retail destination. Harbour View is not just a residential community anymore; it has transformed into Hampton Roads’ newest destination for administration, banking, medical, modeling & simulation, cyber security and shopping. Hampton Roads Crossing, anchored by a 123,000 square-foot Kroger Marketplace, is the latest mixed-use development in Suffolk that is expanding to meet the ever growing market demand. Hampton Roads Crossing’s master developer, Terry Peterson Companies, has announced the addition of approximately 98,000 square feet of high-quality retail tenants, including:
• Ross Dress for Less • Petco
• Ulta Beauty • Michael’s
• DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse • Five Below
Further retail tenant announcements are expected to follow in the coming weeks. “When we set our sights on the Harbour View market we wanted to build a vibrant new destination in Suffolk, and Hampton Roads Crossing is shaping up to be just that,” said John H. Peterson III, Senior Vice President, Terry Peterson Companies. “We are rising to meet the growing demand for quality retail shopping, dining and housing options in this walkable community.” “Hampton Roads Crossing is a dynamic development and is becoming a great community gathering place,” said Suffolk Mayor Linda T. Johnson. “We are thrilled about the latest additional tenants who have selected Suffolk to grow their business and we look forward to seeing this shopping destination move forward.” Delivery date is expected to be spring 2016. Additional retail suites ranging from 1,500 square feet to 10,000 square feet are still available. Future phases of development include restaurants, additional retail, and a wide variety of housing options. Project team members include Monarch Bank, VHB, HBA, Armada/Hoffler, and Williams Mullen, with Divaris Real Estate representing the landlord during lease transactions. LifeNet Health to Add More than 160 Jobs in Virginia Beach
LifeNet Health, a Virginia Beach- headquartered provider of transplant solutions, announced plans to hire more than 160 people in 2015. Virtually all of these positions will be housed in the organization’s three Virginia Beach facilities and will help to ensure that the need for donated tissues continues to be met.
The company’s growth is fueled largely by increased demand for their innovative bio-implants, which are being made more widely available both domestically and internationally.
"LifeNet Health serves as a major employer and leader in efforts to grow the city's biomedical industry cluster," stated Mayor William D. Sessoms, Jr. "The City of Virginia Beach is fortunate to have created a pro-business environment that allows industry to expand their workforce to meet company goals and objectives."
“The growth and success of LifeNet Health is a great example of Virginia’s strengths in bioscience,” said Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe. “We are poised to leverage our assets and take advantage of the tremendous opportunities in the bioscience sector to create more jobs and build a new Virginia economy. Innovations in areas such as regenerative medicine have the potential to help many thousands of people and be powerful engines of economic development in the Commonwealth.”
By the end of 2015, LifeNet Health will employ nearly 900 people, representing a 5.45 percent increase since 2010. Growing their workforce is an extension of LifeNet Health’s mission of saving lives, restoring health, and giving hope.
