A NEW musical inspired by and featuring the music of Elvis Presley, is coming to the Bristol Hippodrome from June 15-20. Love me Tender is an hilari-

or a Hound Dog in his Blue Suede Shoes? The townsfolk are about to
be All Shook Up and could be headed for Heartbreak Ho- tel, but for Natalie, the love- struck, tomboy mechanic, it really is Nowor Never. Packed with 25 of the best-
loved songs by the King, Love me Tender, by the writer of the award-wining West End and Broadway smash hit Memphis, is a funny and mov- ing tale of hope, second chanc-

Clueless sleuth has even cast laughing
IN A year that sees the 125th anniversary of the birth of Agatha Christie, a group of performers are paying trib- ute to this most famous of crime novelists by putting on a spoof sleuth. The latest production from Abergavenny Theatre Group (ATG) to come to the town’s Borough Theatre is David Tristram’s Inspector Drake’s Last Case, a comical celebra- tion of the whole murder- mystery genre. Following the success of

last year’s comeback show Black Comedy, the group are sticking with the comedy theme to produce a play that puts an audience’s deduc- tion skills fully to the test while also ensuring laughs come aplenty. “It can best be described as
‘Agatha Christie meets Air- plane meets Python’,” said Mari-Anne Gibson, publici- ty officer for ATGand one of

John Geraghty and recent A4B award winner Deirdre Mahon take a break from treading the boards to direct the show which includes manyATGfamiliar faces but also welcomes some new- comers to the stage. ATG regular Les Hayes
takes up the title role of the hapless Inspector Drake, who, aided by his imbecilic sidekick PC Plod (Nick Wat- kins), interrogates a number of interesting and colourful suspects for the murder of a wealthy widow in a 1930s manor house. “As PC Plod says in his nar- ration, just when you think you know who the culprit is, it’s time to think again!” Inspector Drake’s Last
