• Glanvilles LLP has promoted two of its solicitors to partners: Marie Russell (above) from the firms’ Newport office and Johnathan Arman from Fareham. In property services, Russell deals with all aspects of buying and selling residential properties including re-mortgages and shared ownership properties. Arman’s areas of expertise include commercial litigation, dispute resolution and employment law. In dispute resolution, he has considerable experience in litigation including contractual and property disputes, landlord and tenant matters, partnership disputes and professional negligence.
• BDO LLP has strengthened its senior team with the addition of two directors in its Southampton tax department. Andy Hamman (left) and Mark Doherty (right) are adding yet more weight to BDO’s multi- disciplinary tax offering to clients across the Central South region. Hamman, recently promoted, specialises in employment taxes and has over 24 years’ experience advising businesses on the numerous aspects of being an employer. Operating across a wide range of sectors in the Central South, he is also one of the UK’s leading specialists in hospitality, specifically advising on tips and troncs. Doherty joins from another global firm and has considerable experience advising medium and large businesses on VAT and customs duties across all sectors, especially consumer goods and retail.
• A key appointment has been made at HWB, one of the region’s largest independent accountancy firms, as David Brookes joins the team as audit partner. Having held a leading role as audit partner at Baker Tilly, with responsibility for a portfolio of corporate clients from a range of sectors, Brookes brings 30 years of experience and knowledge to the HWB team. His expertise spans property and construction, the marine sector, distribution businesses and manufacturers, plus charity and pensions sectors.
• Full-service marketing and PR agency McKenna Townsend has expanded its design studio team with another new appointment. Emma Welch joins the Ringwood-based team as an experienced graphic designer and will provide client support across the agency’s consumer, business- to-business and corporate clients. With over 20 years’ experience as a creative artworker and graphic designer, Welch has created and implemented campaigns for a number of leading brands, including PepsiCo, Spar, Cole and Mason, Booker, Block Eyewear, NHS Logistics and Naomi House.
• Princecroft Willis (PcW), with offices in Poole and New Milton, has appointed two former trainees to the board as directors. Sam Chapman (right) and Dan Tout (left) joined the Dorset and New Forest firm of chartered accountants and business advisers in 1998 and 2005 respectively. Chapman qualified as a chartered certified accountant in 2007. Since 2013 he has headed up PcW’s business enterprise team in Poole. Tout joined PcW after graduating from Bournemouth University with a first-class honours degree in accounting and taxation. He passed his final Institute of Chartered Accountants ACA exams in 2008 and spent a further year with the firm before leaving in 2010. After working at Peverel Group and then Twinings, he rejoined PcW last year in the firm’s New Milton office. Mark Johns (centre), PcW’s managing director, said: “We’ve always believed in growing our own talent. These appointments are the clearest possible demonstration of the success of this approach.“
• Bargate Homes has appointed Andy Kirkpatrick to its board, adding further experience to its respected team. Kirkpatrick, who joins the Fair Oak-based business from Barratt Homes, has been appointed construction director and brings with him a wealth of experience in housebuilding across the region. He joins Bargate at a key time for the business following a £25 million investment from Prowting Investments plc to enable its strategic expansion. Bargate managing director Angus Cook said: “We are committed to making significant investment into our business and strengthening our already highly-respected team. Andy’s appointment is very much part of that strategy.“

• Hampshire law firm Eric Robinson Solicitors has welcomed three new faces to its partnership – those of Beverley Pym, Vicki Rawlins and Thomas Hunt. An accredited family law specialist, Pym joined the firm in 1997 at its Hedge End branch, where she still works today. After various changes over the past couple of years, she has taken the additional responsibility of managing the offices and wanted to become more involved. Rawlins first arrived at the firm in 1994 to complete a work experience placement while at school. She went on to study A-levels at Totton College, a law degree at Solent University, masters in law at Southampton University and an LPC at Bournemouth University before returning to the firm to complete a training contract in 2002. At the age of 31, Hunt is the firm’s youngest partner in its 50-year history. An employment law specialist, he made no secret of his ambition when he was asked to join the firm last year.
