Awards success for Solent business leaders

Two Hampshire business leaders have been recognised for their excellence at the IoD London and the South Director of the Year Awards

Gareth Rogers, chief executive officer of St Mary’s Football Group (Southampton Football Club Group), was named Director of the Year (Large Company).

Mark Smith, group chairman and founder of the Car Finance Company of Portsmouth, was named joint winner in the Director of the Year (Medium Company), along with Jill Whittaker of HIT Training of Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex.

“As always, the standard set by all our finalists was exceptional, so for Gareth and Mark to win their categories is a tremendous achievement,“ said Rodger Broad, director of the IoD South.

“Our winners will go forward to the national IoD awards later in the year where they will compete with directors from around the country for the title of UK Director of the Year.“

Smith and Rogers received their awards on Wednesday, April 22, in the prestigious surroundings of the Nash Room at the Institute of Directors in Pall Mall, London.
