Responsible for diagnosing, treating & helping prevent diseases & injuries occurring in general population. Examine patients for symptoms of disease, disorder, injury & determine the nature & extent of the medical condition, referring to diagnostic images & tests & using medical instruments & equipment. Prescribe medications & educate patients on medications. Prepare & maintain medical records, including charts, reports, & forms regarding the services provided. Explain procedures & discuss test results or prescribed treatments w/patients. Advise patients & community members concerning diet, activity, hygiene & disease prevention. Refer patients to medical specialists or other practitioners when necessary. Must have a Medical Doctor Degree or the foreign equivalent. Must have completed 36 months of residency training in Family Medicine. Must have or be eligible for a Physician License in Virginia.
