Bench Cllr Doe reported that he had obtained a piece of wood for the bench at the pavilion playground, had treated it and would replace it when he had the time. GatesA quote from Losa and Loder for replacing entrance gates to the parish field had been accepted. Police maers The clerk passed on information about a burglary at a property in Beverley Road and there had been break-ins in North Street and Bull Orchard. Rusty bins The bins at the parish field needed replacing soon as possible as both had rusted through at the boom. Plumber An emergency plumber had needed to be called out as the water heater in the ladies toilet at the parish hall had got stuck on. The switchwas still quite stiff and would need to be monitored.

YMCA Cllr Derek Mortimer said Golding Homes had approved the £1m plus rebuild of the Children’s Hut. The internal layout was still being finalised. The facility would close on March 16 to allow work on site to commence in time for the April deadline. It was suggested that a commitment by Tovil Parish Council would help secure additional funding for the project.

Members agreed that although a formal commitment would need to await the details of the potential lease, the council should make an appropriate allocation within its reserves, which would indicate that the funding would be accessible. Bridge MillWay The parish council noted strong oppositions to the proposed replacement of the bark surfacing at Bridge MillWay open space with rubber maing. Itwas reported that more than 100 residents had signed a petition against this proposal and the councilwas promised a copy of this petition. Councillors also noted that the costs of the refurbishment would be high, although some of the quotes, including that from Maidstone Council, had omied certain details. Itwas felt that the lifetime of the rubber maing had been overstated by Maidstone Council. A meeting would be sought with cabinet member Cllr John Perry and Jason Taylor of Maidstone Council to discuss modest repairs to the facility. Bins Overflowing lier bins at the post office and parish council car park would be reported to Maidstone Council. Signs The Tovil sign at the corner of Courtenay Road needed cleaning and Pearsons would be asked to do this. The Tovil sign in Farleigh Hillwas bent and this would be reported to Kent Highways. Parking Pavement parking in Church Street was causing problems for pedestrians. The parish clerk would write to Kent Police asking when the new PCSO would start working in the area.
