Peter Pan is at the Savoy

THE Savoy Theatre in Mon- mouth is serving up a live treat this half-term holiday with a stage version of the most excit- ing children’s story ever writ- ten – JM Barrie’s Peter Pan. Given a 21st century make-

TEARS OF LAUGHTER: The Reduced Shakespeare Company

FOLLOWING a hugely suc- cessful, critically acclaimed season at the Edinburgh Fes- tival Fringe 2014 the Reduced Shakespeare Company will set out to reduce the UK to tears of laughter in Spring 2015. The bad boys of abridge- ment will finally tackle the subject they were born to reduce. From the high-brow to the low, The Complete His- tory of Comedy (abridged) covers comedy through the ages, from Aristophanes and Shakespeare to Vaudeville

and Charlie Chaplin. Fromcavementelling“Rock

Rock” jokes to Chris Rock and everything in-between, the company leave no joke untold as they deconstruct the entire history of comedy in 90 rol- licking minutes. The Reduced Shakespeare Company is a three-man com- edy troupe that takes long, serious subjects and reduces them to short, sharp com- edies. Since 1981, the bad boys of abridgement have created nine stage shows, two televi-

sion specials, several failed TV pilots and numerous ra- dio pieces – all of which have been performed, seen, heard and translated into Klingon the world over. The company’s first three

shows, The Complete Works of

William Shakespeare

(abridged), The Complete His- tory of America (abridged) and The Bible: The Complete Word of God (abridged) en- joyed a nine-year run at the Criterion Theatre in Piccadil- ly Circus. Not only were they London’s

The Earth is a playful and poignant look at the vast- ness of the universe, and the insignificance of our lives. It’s the story of two friends going on a journey through space; investigat- ing the competitiveness of friendship, told with at times painful honesty. The show investigates both the love and the spite that

comes with eternal close proximity. Gameshow are Matthew Evans and Matt Ryan, a London-based contempo- rary theatre partnership. They create bold and play- ful productions which ex- cite and invigorate new audiences, making them think and feel in new ways about the world. Through a mixture of story-telling, game play- ing, competitive eating and bad dance moves Matt and Matthew explore what it’s like to be lost in space with your best friend. It’s an experimental journey into space exploring the gi- ganticness of the universe and the insignificance of humanity. Call 01633 656757 for tick-
