Musicians of the past still shine
ANNIVERSARY: Texas
Texas 25 - Texas IT’S 25 years since Texas entered the UK charts with their debut hit I Don’t Want a Lover and this lat- est release celebrates their quarter century with four new tracks and re- workings of the bands greatest hit highlights with NYC soul outfit Truth and Soul. Long-term fans of Texas will
know of the bands soulful tenden- cies, this album sits new songs such as Start a Family alongside stripped back live versions of Halo and Say What You Want. Texas 25 defines the band as
they are in 2015 and is an enjoy- able release for fans of a more stripped back rawer live sound.
Beautiful Guitars - Mark Nevin WHEN Mark Nevin sings the words “We had a band, we made a record, we saw the world, we touched the sun” on the title track of his latest release Beautiful Guitars he’s clearly recalling his days as a mem- ber of Fairground Attraction. Mark hasn’t forgotten his roots as a mem- ber of the fondly remembered folk- rock outfit of the late 80s as intri- cately arranged numbers such as Love = Love = Love, Lets Make Hay and Dangerous recall. No doubt the album’s highlight
is Mark’s own bluesy vocals and don’t miss a new and fun arrange- ment of Perfect, Fairground Attrac- tion’s most enduring song. Andy Howells

Marmozets set to headline new magnetic tour
HEADLINERS: Marmozets
MARMOZETS are back on the road with their biggest head- line tour to date which includes an appearance at The Fleece in Bristol on February 20. In addition to the success of their debut album, 2014 saw the band included a flurry of other major accomplishments includ- ing a closing night headline set at Glastonbury’s BBC Intro- ducing Stage; further key festi- vals including Reading, Leeds, Download and Radio 1 Rocks; plus a sold-out UK tour as co- headliners alongside Lonely The Brave. Becca MacIntyre’s visceral
and magnetic performances have truly stood-out with Noisey stating that she is “shaking up British rock’s gender imbalance.” Meanwhile, the rest of the band – Becca’s siblings Sam (guitar) and Josh (drums), and the Bottomley brothers Jack (guitar) and Will (bass) – have all been praised and profiled for their musician- ship by the likes of Total Gui- tar, Rhythm and Drummer magazine.
